What is erythroderma?
The disease erythroderma can be defined as any skin disorder that causes extreme redness all over your body. The alternate names in which this is known are exfoliative dermatitis/red man syndrome. This occurs in malignant and benign diseases. If the cause is unknown, then it might last longer periods.
This is either preceded or associated with exfoliation wherein the skin layers tend to peel off; and in such a situation, it is called exfoliative dermatitis. This occurs in men more commonly than women. Since it is not contagious, it does not affect other people.

What are the Symptoms for Erythroderma?
Frequently, the start of erythroderma is sudden and explosive. • Malignancies (internal) such as fallopian tubes, rectum carcinoma, lung and colon.
How to treat Erythroderma?
The following treatments are commonly followed for erythroderma:
• Corticosteroids are given either intravenously or ingested orally or directly applied on the affected area; this will reduce the redness and swelling.
• If the itch is severe, antihistamines has to be administered.
• You must thoroughly take care of your skin; this involves applying cool compresses or creams like Eucerin or Vaseline. This ensures sealing of the skin thereby protecting it from water.

How to prevent Erythroderma?
• Keep the skin moist; do not scratch the affected area; avoid factors that precipitate. Consult your doctor and discontinue unwanted medicines.
