Treatment for Low Blood Pressure – Hypotension

  • Hypotension, or low blood pressure, refers to a drop in blood pressure below what is considered normal.  It may indicate that the heart is not forcing blood into the arteries at a fast-enough pace and sometimes results from a damaged and disordered circulatory system.  Poor nutrition is one of the most common causes of this disorder.

    Causes
    The main causes of hypotension are poor dietary habits, malnutrition (not taking in enough vitamins, minerals, and nutrients needed to enable the body to function properly),
    an inadequate supply of oxygen and nutrients needed for normal circulatory function and tissue maintenance, blood loss, emotional problems, and frustration or aggravation.

    Symptoms of Low Blood Pressure
    Some common symptoms of hypotension are weakness, feeling faint, dizzy, and/or lethargic, fatigue, fainting after standing abruptly from a sitting position, sleeping difficulties, slow wound healing, and a poor immune system.

    Home remedies for Low Blood Pressure
    Add ½ tsp salt to water.  Drink daily for as long as you have the low blood pressure problem; drink 1 cup of raw beet root juice twice a day for one week; mix 30 to 40 grains of spikenard with a small amount of both camphor and cinnamon.  Take once each day.

    Prepare a mixture by steeping 15 to 20 grams of spikenard to boiling water.  Drink three times each day; take pantothenic acid supplements, as it is vital to healthy body systems.

    Diets
    Eat only fresh fruits for five straight days.  Eat three fruit meals each day at 5-hour intervals; follow the fresh fruit diet with a fruit and milk diet for 2 to 3 weeks; after the fruit and milk diet, eat a well-balanced diet.  Be sure to include plenty of seeds, nuts, grains, fresh fruits, and raw vegetables.

    Helpful Tips
    Reduce stress, get plenty of fresh air and sunshine, eat salty foods while blood pressure is low, take Epsom salt baths for 20 minutes before going to bed (using hot water), follow a diet rich in protein, vitamin C, and all B vitamins, exercise lightly, by swimming, walking, or cycling, and drink plenty of water (8 to 10 glasses each day).
